In a turn of events that can best be described as finding “the proverbial needle in a haystack”, our very own Sanitary District #1 Commissioner Jim Vilardi did just that.  Commissioner Vilardi, along with crew members from the Five Towns’ sanitation district and The Elder Family, searched through thousands of pounds of garbage to recover a priceless heirloom – a diamond-studded wedding band belonging to Woodmere resident Jodi Elder.  The irreplaceable ring, which was accidentally thrown out with the family’s recycling, was a gift from her husband on their 15th wedding anniversary.  To read more about this truly amazing story, please click here.
