Still in our infancy, the reinvented Inwood/North Lawrence/Atlantic Beach Republican Committee – The Inwood-AB GOP – has already made significant strides both locally and politically. However, such efforts would not have come to fruition without the support of our growing membership and from our community. And we have so much more to accomplish!
With the arrival of summer and Election Day 2017 only a few short months away, NOW is the time to Get Involved! Currently, our committee men and women are in the process of walking their respective Election Districts, collecting signatures in support of our 2017 Republican Candidates. But more help is always needed! Please click here to find out how YOU can get involved in building our committee and strengthening our community! #inwood#northlawrence#atlanticbeach#republican#gop#electionday2017
On behalf of Co-Chairmen and Executive Leaders Donald X. Clavin, Jr. and James J. Vilardi, the Inwood-AB GOP would like to thank everyone that attended our special Cocktail Reception in honor of Town of Hempstead Supervisor Anthony J. Santino on Tuesday evening, June 13th!
The intimate, two-hour Cocktail Reception was held at the beautiful Cherry Valley Country Club in Garden City, and it was truly a great success! With Supervisor Santino’s reelection campaign in full swing, the reception was well-attended, with guests and dignitaries from all over the Town of Hempstead and Nassau County in attendance. It was a true show of support for the Supervisor’s continued efforts to reduce spending, ease the tax burdens on our residents, and for providing responsible and transparent fiscal management of America’s Largest Township! And as a special gift, all guests in attendance received from the Supervisor a souvenir pair of custom-made cufflinks designed specifically for the event!
Again, we would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to all those that made the evening a great success!
Election Day 2017 is Tuesday, November 7, 2017, and while this may seem far away, it’ll be here before we know it! This year is an immensely important year for our local candidates at both the Town and County Levels.
At the Town of Hempstead, we’ll be re-electing Supervisor Anthony J. Santino and Town Clerk Nasrin G. Ahmad, and for Nassau County, we’ll be electing Jack M. Martins as our next County Executive; Steven L. Labriola our next County Comptroller; and re-electing Maureen C. O’Connell as our County Clerk. All of the Nassau County Legislative seats are running as well, as locally we’ll be electing Paul A. Sapienza to the 3rd Legislative District, and re-electing Denise A. Ford and Howard J. Kopel to the 4th and 7th Legislative Districts respectively.
In the days, weeks and months to come, the Inwood-AB GOP Republican Committee will begin walking door-to-door, collecting petitions, discussing issues and answering questions, handing out information and introducing our candidates. In the meantime, if anyone is interested in helping our cause and showing their support for the Inwood-AB GOP and all of our local Republican candidates, we welcome you to visit our Get Involved Page!

The Inwood, North Lawrence, Atlantic Beach Republican Committee is thrilled that one of our community’s longest tenured small businesses will remain open for the foreseeable future. After much uncertainty, The Five Towns Mini-Golf and Batting Range in Lawrence, which first opened it’s “gates” in 1978, recently reached a new rental agreement with the state Department of Transportation.
Thanks to the efforts of a bi-partisan team that included, amongst others, our very own Inwood-AB GOP Executive Leader, James J. Vilardi and our Nassau County Legislator Howard Kopel (R-Lawrence), the residents of our communities will be able to continue enjoying all the amenities the facility has to offer.

For many years the property at 175 Roger Avenue, known as the Rockaway Metals Building, has been an eyesore and a hazardous condition for Inwood Residents. I am happy to inform you that Nassau County has now taken action to demolish this building, which could be the first step in the remediation, sale, and redevelopment of this property which has been blighted for over twenty years.
On Monday April 24th the Nassau County Legislature will be considering a Capital Budget Bond Resolution (144-17, 145-17, 149-17) which will authorize $2.1 million for the demolition of this building. I encourage all concerned Inwood Residents to join with me at the Nassau County Legislature at 1:00 PM to express support for this resolution.
